چکیده

leading to homogeneous formation of COX. Support for the importance of the homogeneous process consists of calculations which show that the rates of the competing reactions are comparable to the coupling reaction of CH3 to form C2H6, and the detection of increased concentrations of C3H6 when l3C2H4 is added to the CH4/02 mixture. (iii) Results for the I3C content of CO and C 0 2 , though scattered, are consistent with C O oxidation being the source of the C 0 2 . (iv) There is an exchangeable pool of C 0 2 on the catalyst which is indicative of the presence of Li2C03 under reaction conditions.

Adsorption of sulfur on TiO 2 ( 110 ) studied with STM , LEED and XPS : temperature - dependent change of adsorption site combined with O – S exchange

We have studied the adsorption of elemental sulfur on TiO 2 (110) for exposure at room temperature and at 300°C. Depending on the substrate temperature we found different adsorption sites with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). At room temperature sulfur adsorbs on the titanium rows with a high mobility along the [001] direction. At 300°C sulfur adsorbs at the position of the bridging oxygen ...

GaN(0001) Surface Structures Studied Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and First-Principles Total Energy Calculations

Surface reconstructions occurring on the (0001) surface of wurtzite GaN are studied using scanning tunneling microscopy, electron diffraction, and Auger electron spectroscopy. The family of reconstructions found on this face includes 2×2, 5×5, 6×4, and “1×1”, in order of increasing surface Ga/ N ratio. Detailed experimental results are presented for each of these reconstructions. First-principl...

Surface and Bulk Electronic Structure of ScN(001) Investigated by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy/Spectroscopy and Optical Absorption Spectroscopy

ScN(001) 1×1 surfaces have been prepared by growing ScN on MgO(001) using radio frequency molecular beam epitaxy. In-situ ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling spectroscopy indicates that the Fermi level at the surface lies slightly above the Sc 3d conduction band edge, which is attributed to a downward band bending at the surface. In-situ scanning tunneling microscopy is used to image the Sc an...

Morphology and local electronic structure of metal particles on metal oxide surfaces: a scanning tunneling microscopic and scanning tunneling spectroscopic study

Metal particles (Au, Pd and Ni) with an average diameter between 7 to 100 ,~ have been prepared on thin metal oxide films (TiO 2, MgO and A1203), epitaxially grown on refractory metal substrates {Mo(100) or Re(0001)}, and imaged using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Information regarding the local electronic structure has been obtained using scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). Controlle...

The nucleation sites of Ag clusters grown by vapor deposition on a TiO 2 ( 110 ) - 1 · 1 surface

We present results of a scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) study of the nucleation and growth of silver clusters grown by vapor deposition on a rutile TiO2(110)-1 · 1 surface. We have scanned, with atomic resolution, the same surface area before and after Ag deposition, to determine the relationship between the nucleation sites and various surface defects. We have found that small precursor st...
